Enter the world of the Stahlbaum family as Clara and Fritz celebrate a traditional Christmas Eve in the Nutcracker Mansion. Walking through the festive dining room towards the grand tree in the cupola hall, scenes from the ballet start to unfold. Witness the battle between Clara’s Nutcracker doll and gingerbread soldiers against the Mouse King and his army of mice, then follow Clara’s journey as she weaves through the Christmas Forest to the Land of Sweets. Classical music will accompany your visit and on reaching the servants’ quarters there are demonstrations on how to make the pomanders and garlands which are displayed throughout the Mansion. Costumed guides will be baking traditional festive delicacies and there are mincemeat treats to enjoy. Please note that only the ground floor is open at Christmas and prices apply to all visitors including National Trust members.

Father Christmas at the Farm

Bring the family down to Tatton’s Farm to greet Father Christmas and his rare breed farmyard friends, some of whom are the star attractions in the nativity scene. Once the children have received their free gift from Father Christmas there is so much to keep them occupied :- an outdoor play trail and den-building area, an indoor playbarn with ride-on tractors and music from brass bands or choirs. Families will love milking the wooden cow in the shippon, story-telling and visiting Aunt Mary in her cottage. Meet our reindeer Prancer and Dancer : Prancer is part of our animal adoption scheme, which would be a great gift for any member of the family. Visit the Farm on Saturdays and Sundays from 29th November until 21st December. Adult £6, Child £5 (includes a gift from Father Christmas).

City of Chester Male Voice Choir Christmas Concert

This Christmas Concert from the City of Chester Male Voice Choir offers something for all tastes. The programme includes Mozarts’s Gloria, Veni Jesu, Unchained Melody and Some Enchanted Evening in the first half, followed by Christmas music after the interval. The choir was originally formed in 1941 by the late Fred Warren under the name of Cestrian Male Voice Choir, until 1999 when the current name was adopted. The choir has toured extensively throughout Britain, Europe and the USA and in November 2013 they won the male voice section of the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno. Before the concert, visit the Nutcracker Mansion and enjoy a warming winter drink.
Roberts Bakery Band Christmas Concert

This Christmas Concert from the Roberts Bakery Band offers something for all tastes. The musical director is Simon Stonehouse. The Roberts Bakery Band was formed from the Middlwich Town Band after securing sponsorship from the Northwich based company in 1980. The band has worn their sponsor’s name with pride ever since and is extremely grateful for their ongoing support. The band’s real love of concerts has enabled it to raise thousands of pounds for charities such as Macmmillan Cancer Support, the Royal Air Force Association and St Luke’s Hospice.
